EU-Africa Partnership for a Sustainable Future: Bridging Gaps in Climate Action and Resource Management
Overview: An EU-Africa partnership for a sustainable future
The event aims to strengthen the partnership between the European Union and Africa to address key challenges in climate change mitigation and biodiversity management. In view of the worsening global environmental problems, joint efforts are crucial for the development of sustainable solutions. The aim is to strengthen cooperation between the European Union and African countries by jointly addressing global environmental challenges. Measures to protect the climate, the environment and biodiversity are at the heart of a renewed partnership and a joint Vision 2030, which was adopted by the heads of state and government of the European Union and the African Union in February 2022 - and which is also expected to play a central role at the upcoming G20 summit in South Africa in November 2025.
The conference aims to identify ways and opportunities to close existing gaps in policy-making, technology and financing that have so far hampered effective climate protection and biodiversity management. The aim is to promote dialog, share innovative approaches and better align strategies between the two continents to promote sustainable development and strengthen resilience to environmental threats. In addition, the conference will provide an opportunity to evaluate the new European Commission's programs, plans and commitments regarding the strategic partnership with Africa for a green transformation and access to energy - in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Paris Agreement and other international agreements.
This conference brings together various stakeholders - including scientists, policy makers, practitioners and civil society representatives - to share experiences, lessons learned and best practices. The aim is to catalyze transformative action and foster lasting partnerships that support shared environmental goals and advance the global sustainability agenda
